Why some OET tests are PractitionersPeculiar
The OET is a test of English dialectcompetences, not of medical acquaintance, and our investigationplanners take care to minimise areas where nominees may use prior acquaintance rather than dialect skills to reciprocate. The OET Listening and Reading sub-tests are therefore notPractitionersPeculiar. They are common to all nominees and focus on a variety of issues of general medical and health interest. While some topics may include content that is familiar to one particular health practitioner's area of experience and expertise, the dialect tasks and questions associated with the texts are designed to test dialectacquaintance and competence, over and above the nominee's dialect of that field.
The OET Writing and Speaking sub-tests are PractitionersPeculiar in the sense that a nominee's profession determines which test materials they are given. The reason for this is that the demonstrative skills of writing and speaking provide opportunities for candidates to draw on their practitioner's role in order to demonstrate their level of ability to communicate in common workplace atmosphere. For example, all medical practitioners conduct consultations with patients/clients.

To reschedule, test-takers need to pay an additional $50. Re-scheduling can be done up to seven days prior to the test day.
