Reading Section

• The TOEFL IBT reading section assesses the students’ ability to comprehend academic texts. The Reading Test usually consists of three to four reading passages, followed by a set of questions for each passage for which you need to answer.
• Instead of 12-14 questions, you will now answer only 10 questions after each passage. The duration of the TOEFL will now be conducted between 54 and 72 minutes, rather than 60 and 80 minutes.
• The total number of passages has not been determined.

Listening Section

• The TOEFL iBT listening section assesses your ability to understand spoken dialogues and decipher academic speech.
• Instead of 4 – 6, you will now be subjected to 3 – 4 'lectures.' The number of questions per lecture remains constant at six. The new TOEFL modified duration of the test will be between 41–57 minutes rather than 60–90 minutes.
• The total number of 'conversations' has remained constant.

Speaking Section

• The TOEFL iBT speaking section assesses your ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
• You will now only have four tasks to complete instead of six. The time for the TOEFL test will be 17 minutes rather than 20 minutes.
• The two types of questions that have been removed from the test are Speaking Question 1: Speaking Preferences and Personal Preferences Question 5: Describe the situation on campus. Number of Questions that is unanswered has been increased in the new test format.

Writing Section

• The TOEFL iBT writing section assesses your ability to construct clear and meaningful sentences.
• In 50 minutes, you will still complete two tasks.
• In the writing section, no changes have been made.

• Your TOEFL IBT exam will still be graded out of 120 points, with each section receiving equal weight.
• The duration of the paper, on the other hand, has been reduced by 30 minutes, making the new TOEFL IBT only 3 hours long instead of 3.5 hours.
• Unfortunately, there are too many variables to determine how much extra time you have for each question. With practice sessions from the online coaching taken at TI Abroad, students are able to score pretty well.

How much does the TOEFL iBT examination cost?
